Introduction to the School

The School of Information and Electrical Engineering, formerly the Department of Electronics and Information Science, was established in 1996. It is primarily focused on cultivating high-level, interdisciplinary talents in the fields of modern information and electrical engineering. The school boasts a well-equipped learning environment, a strong faculty, and distinctive educational features. Currently, the school has 122 faculty members, including 48 with senior professional titles and 60% of the full-time teaching staff with doctoral degrees. Among the faculty, there is one recipient of the Ministry of Education's New Century Excellent Talents award and three members of the Hebei 333 Talent Project. In addition, the school features two provincial-level excellent teaching teams. The school currently enrolls 2,471 full-time undergraduate students and 314 full-time master's students.

The school houses the Hebei Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for Modern Information Technology, which includes four specialized laboratories: Electrical and Electronic Technology, Communication and Information Technology, Automation and Electrical Technology, and Computer Technology. Additionally, the school hosts three provincial-level platforms: the Hebei Key Laboratory of Security & Information Perception and Processing, the Coal Mine Comprehensive Informatization Laboratory of Hebei Engineering, and the Hebei Provincial Digital Economy Industry Institute. Furthermore, it has established three key laboratories at the Handan municipal level: the Laboratory of Optical Communication and Broadband Access Technologies, the Laboratory of Distributed Control Technology, and the Laboratory of Intelligent Information Processing.

The school offers talent cultivation at both undergraduate and graduate levels. It has six undergraduate programs: Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Communication Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, Automation, and Electrical Engineering and Automation. Among these, two programs are designated as National First-Class Undergraduate Programs, and two have passed the China Engineering Education Accreditation. Additionally, there are two Hebei Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Programs and one Hebei Provincial Undergraduate Education Innovation Hub. At the graduate level, the school has two first-level academic master's programs in Computer Science and Technology and Information and Communication Engineering. Notably, the discipline of Computer Science and Technology was rated at C level in the fourth round of national discipline evaluation. The school also holds the professional master's degree authorization in the category of Electronic Information, with specializations in three areas: Computer Technology, Communication Engineering, and Control Engineering.

The Party Committee of the school focuses on the fundamental task of fostering moral education, adhering to the working philosophy of Party building leading development, and development highlighting Party building. It is dedicated to establishing a Party building framework characterized by political guidance, cultural integration, deep synergy, and a focus on excellence. The First Faculty Party Branch has been recognized as a National Model Party Branch for Party Building, while the Graduate Student Party Branch has been selected as a cultivation and development unit for the National Model Party Branch.

The school continuously deepens education and teaching reforms, actively advancing program and curriculum development, achieving remarkable results. It has undertaken one National Pilot Project for Comprehensive Undergraduate Program Reform and one at the provincial level, as well as 18 provincial teaching reform projects. The Computer Science and Technology and Electronic Information Engineering programs have passed China Engineering Education Accreditation. The school has developed one National First-Class Undergraduate Course and one National Excellent Open Course, along with four Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Courses, one Provincial Model Course for Curriculum-based Ideological and Political Education, and one Provincial Innovation and Entrepreneurship Course. It has also been approved for one Nationally Planned Textbook and two Provincial Model Course Teaching Teams for Curriculum-based Ideological and Political Education. Additionally, the school secured one Hebei Provincial Graduate Education and Teaching Reform Research Project and has won the following provincial teaching awards: one First Prize, one Second Prize, and two Third Prizes.

The school conducts research in key areas such as Computer Science and Technology, Modern Communication Technology and Networks, Control Science and Engineering, and Comprehensive Coal Mine Informatization. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, faculty members have undertaken over 300 research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Hebei Natural Science Foundation, the Hebei Provincial Education Department Scientific Research Programs, and industry collaboration projects. Faculty have published more than 260 academic papers in authoritative domestic and international journals and at international academic conferences related to these fields. Additionally, over 100 invention patents and software copyrights have been granted.

The school places great emphasis on cultivating students' innovation, entrepreneurship, and practical labor skills. It has established activity bases such as a Student Labor Practice Base and the ZhiYun Makerspace, aimed at enhancing students' hands-on abilities and fostering their innovative consciousness. Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the school's students have achieved remarkable results in scientific and technological innovation activities. They have won 544 national and provincial awards in various academic and innovation competitions, including the Challenge Cup series, the national finals of the DaTang Cup National Undergraduate Mobile Communication Application Innovation Contest, the Blue Bridge Cup National Software and Information Technology Professional Talent Competition, the China Collegiate Computing Competition-Team Programming Ladder Tournament, the National Undergraduate Intelligent Vehicle Competition, the National Undergraduate Robotics Competition, the China International UAV Design Contest and Scientific Research-Based National Aerospace Model Championship,  the National TRIZ Cup Innovation Method Competition.Furthermore, and Graduate Student Network and Information Security Technology Competition. Additionally, students have secured 29 national-level and 48 provincial-level Innovation and Entrepreneurship Projects.

Graduates from our school are known for their solid professional foundation, strong practical skills, and innovative mindset, earning high praise from prestigious universities and employers alike. Many outstanding undergraduates and postgraduates have pursued further studies at renowned domestic and international institutions such as Beihang University, Zhejiang University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Southeast University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Tianjin University, Northeastern University, Johns Hopkins University, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (北陆先端科学技术大学院大学), and New Jersey Institute of Technology. The school actively expands employment market and has established school-enterprise partnerships with 264 well-known enterprises, including HuaWei, DaTang, China State Construction, China Railway, ZhongTong Construction, Sinopec, SANY Renewable Energy, CASIC, Great Wall, Midea, Gree, and others.
